Charnley House is a Preferred NHS Supplier

Some big news for this month, Charnley House is now a Preferred NHS Supplier!

This means that we can take people directly from other NHS services such as hospitals and provide a continuation of care for their treatment. It is also a great way in which people can show their own choice in how they want to be treated.

It was a long and difficult process to get this accreditation, and we put it down to all the great work that we do at Charnley House around person centred care. Obviously we couldn’t do this without our great staff, so this is a big well done to all you guys too. The recent training such as the Dignity in Care helped a great deal and showed that we are at the forefront of developing our people to offer excellent service.

It reflects really well on the high quality care we strive to achieve and improve upon daily and I think we all deserve a big pat on the back. Well done everyone and we look forward to a excellent working relationship with our colleagues in the health sector for many years to come.

New Horizons Canal Boat Trips Booked

We’ve got this years canal boat trips booked for 11 May, 10 Aug. and 14 Sept. It’s always a nice afternoon out floating up and down the canal around Marple, everyone usually enjoys it and we’re very much looking forward to it.

They do a fabulous job helping those with limited mobility issues and showing them so lovely country side in the process.

Februarys Update

Although there hasn’t been a great deal of activity on the website for the last month that doesn’t mean it’s been quiet. We’ve welcomed new residents into our home and we are glad they are settling in well. We’ve had two inspections both were more than fine and they’ve given us recommended new procedures to keep us top of the game. Lynn has been on holiday, although now it feels like she’s never been away.

Other than that we’ve had the usual decorating, maintenance, training and hard work that goes into the day to day running of a care home. It’s work we love to do, and are happy when it’s noticed.

We’re hoping to have our art therapy starting again next week, we’re looking forward to seeing Expressional Arts again. Christmas got in the way of the last couple, but now we have something nice to look forward to.

John Hones one of our long time entertainers has been notified he is to receive an MBE from the Queen in May. John does volunteer work and plays his accordion at Macclesfield general Hospital and is being honoured for his volunteer services. Congratulations John, we look forward to seeing him and his MBE soon.

All Daisy Dignity in Care Training Completed

This week the final group of staff completed the training for the Daisy Dignity in care. Next step for everyone will be the compilation of a portfolio of evidence to prove how well we work at best practices. Merry Christmas for 2011

We are quickly coming up on the festive season and we’re all in full swing for the holidays. Christmas decorations are up, entertainment planned and everyone really looking forward to the season.

A Lovely Afternoon Out

A big thank you to Zoe for going out for the afternoon with a resident. They went shopping around Hyde, checked out the market and then stopped off for lunch and a swift half in the pub on the way home. It’s things like this that make Charnley House the home from home that it is, and our resident has been telling everyone how much of a fun afternoon it was.
